Canal got cleaned after so many years!

Many people around the world had a dream of going to Paris know as 'The City of Love' because of it's romantic vibe. Many tourist spots like Eiffel Tower, The Louvre, and the Notre-Dame de Paris are instagrammable except one place, the Canal Saint-Martin.
The said Canal is not often included in the agenda of tourists who visit Paris. Still, there are alot of people who take pictures with the canal as the background. Canal Saint-Martin is a 4.5km canal in Paris. It joins the Canal de l'Ourcq to river Seine and flows between Bastille and Republique.

It has not been cleaned or drained for many years but the Parisian authorities finally made a choice to clean it and they got surprised at what they saw. The place was not only ihabited by living creatures but also with trash.
The canal was last cleaned in 2001 and the Paristan authorities collected almost 40 tons of garbage like bicycles, motorbikes, gold coins, wheelchairs, a toilet bowl, and even a car!

90,000 cubic meters of water was drained from the canal and it's double locks were also renovated. The canal cleaners also took out about 4.5 tons of trout, carp and bream and placed them another part of the lake.

The canal will remain free from water for three months. The said cleaning cost about 9.5-million euros. The deputy mayor asked the citizens to be patient and pay respect to the place once the refurbishing is done.
